Lake 2025 oil on canvas

I am a painter currently showing my work at the LSAArtroom Gallery in Leamington Spa, Warwickshire, UK.

My medium is both oil on canvas and acrylics.

Originally a painter of still life I have now moved into a range of other styles.

For several years I have been concerned in exploring new directions. I have dropped still life painting (for now) and instead I have been concerned with exploring landscape and the forces of weather. The end result being semi abstract and gestural paintings influenced by artists such as Joan Eardley and modern painters such as Louis Noble and Jill Eisele have helped me to use more expressive brushwork and colour in my work.

The goal for me in my painting is to explore a sense of place rather than a direct representation, after all photographs can do that.

Using pencil lines, slashes of colour and a fractured pictorial space helps with a sense of wildness and mood hopefully giving the view something to explore.
